Jonathon Marek | Chair
Hailing from Chicago, Illinois, Jonathon Marek is a sophomore in Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service, majoring in International Political Economy with a certificate in Asian Studies. He has studied Chinese for 11 years, spending 2 summers abroad in China, and is particularly interested in Chinese trade and development policy. In addition to the Walsh Exchange, he is a Mortara Undergraduate Research Fellow, Press Secretary for the Georgetown University Student Association, and a member of the International Relations Club. As Chair, Jonathon hopes to expand the Walsh Exchange's reach internationally, solidifying its reputation as a global conference.
Rebecca Lin | Vice Chair and Director of Programming & Outreach
Rebecca Lin is from Seattle, WA and is a sophomore in the School of Foreign Service majoring in International Political Economy and minoring in Chinese. After serving as the Director of Social Media and Technology for the 7th Walsh Exchange, she’s excited to return as the Vice Chair this year to plan and help broaden the speakers and research featured at the conference. Outside of the Walsh Exchange, she serves as the Political Awareness Committee Co-Chair for the Asian American Student Association and Hillterns. Never forgetting her Seattle roots, she also spends too much money at Starbucks and adamantly refuses to use umbrellas.
Elena Ortiz | Vice Chair and Director of Events & Logistics
Elena is a sophomore in the School of Foreign Service studying International Politics and Security Studies. This is her second year serving on on the events team of the Walsh Exchange Committee. Outside of school, you'll find her running, doing the New York Times crossword, or watching Trevor Noah.
Yumna Naqvi | Academic Coordinator
Yumna Naqvi is a sophomore in the School of Foreign Service, majoring in International Political Economy. Her experiences studying abroad in both China and Taiwan have contributed to her interest in international relations and politics. Besides Walsh Exchange, she is involved with The Hoya's Opinion section and enjoys editing. In her free time, she likes to bake, watch bad quality Asian dramas, and complain about her hometown — New Jersey.
Eamon Tuttle | Academic Coordinator
Originally from Kingston, Pennsylvania, Eamon Tuttle is currently a sophomore in the School of Foreign Service planning to major in International Political Economy. He is currently learning the Chinese language and is interested in the impact of Chinese foreign investment on recipient countries. In addition to working with the Walsh Exchange, Eamon also tutors for the DC Reads Program and serves as the Tournament Manager for Georgetown University Quiz Bowl. In his free time, you can find him playing piano in one of the practice rooms on campus.
Rael Baird| Director of Communications & Marketing
Rael is currently a freshman in the School of Foreign Service, intending to major in International Politics with a concentration in International Law, Institutions and Ethics. Born here in DC, he was raised in Los Angeles and Hong Kong. He is interested in studying the growth of Chinese authoritarian influence, both domestically and in foreign policy. Rael enjoys playing for the Georgetown Rugby team, travelling, and playing piano.
Chelsea Luo | Director of Communications & Marketing
Chelsea Luo is a sophomore at the School of Foreign Service, majoring in International Political Economy with a certificate in International Development. Her passion for research and sustainable development led to her participation in the Walsh Exchange. Chelsea is a proud native of Chengdu, China. Besides the Steering Committee, she's involved in the Beeck Center and Bossier Magazine.
John Connor Key, IV | Director of Conference Development and Finance
John Connor is currently a sophomore in the SFS, studying Global Business. He is excited to be a part of the Walsh Exchange!
Kathy Zhuo| Director of Finance
Originally from San Diego, California, Kathy Zhuo is a freshman at Georgetown University in the School of Foreign Service. She is particularly interested in the intersection of international affairs and human rights. Outside of the Walsh Exchange, Kathy is a guest contributor for On the Record, the online publication of GU Politics and spends her free time swimming or drinking boba. She looks forward to the different research topics that will be presented at the Walsh Exchange this year.
