Rael Baird | Chair
Rael is currently a Junior in the School of Foreign Service, majoring in International Politics with a concentration in Foreign Policy. Born here in DC, he was raised in Los Angeles and Hong Kong. He is interested in studying China's expanding role on the world stage, the implications of emerging technology on foreign policy, and the intersection of sociology and international relations. Elsewhere on campus, Rael is an active member of Georgetown's rugby team and participates in Wonks & Techies, a Stanford-Georgetown dialogue on technology policy. He is also a huge movie buff, and enjoys travelling and playing piano.
Carly Kabot | Director of Communications
Born and raised in New York, Carly Kabot is a sophomore in the School of Foreign Service. She is majoring in International Politics with a concentration in International Security and minoring in Religion, Ethics, and World Affairs. Outside of the Walsh Exchange, Carly is the Executive Editor of On the Record and the Club Olas National Manager. In her free time she loves hiking, exploring DC, and missing Jack the bulldog.
Maylene Yeh | Director of Communications
Maylene is a sophomore in the School of Foreign Service, majoring in International Politics with a minor in Jewish Civilization. She is particularly interested in global movements of decolonization, democratization, and civil conflict. Outside of the Walsh Exchange, she also edits for the Caravel and interns at the Washington Lawyers' Committee Workers' Rights Clinic through the Kalmanovitz Initiative. In her spare time, she enjoys creative writing and baking sweets.
Carolyn Ren | Academic Coordinator
Born in California, Carolyn is currently a sophomore in the School of Foreign Service majoring in International Politics. She is very interested in human rights, climate change, and East Asian diplomacy. Outside of the Walsh Exchange, she is an editorial assistant for the Georgetown Journal of international affairs and enjoys painting, traveling, and coffee-tasting in her free time. Carolyn is very excited to be part of the Walsh Exchange this year!
Jessica Shao | Academic Coordinator
Jess is a freshman in the School of Foreign Service planning on majoring in International Political Economy with a certificate in Diplomatic Studies. She was born in Shanghai, China, and attended high school in Pottstown, PA. Outside of the Walsh Exchange, she is involved with the International Relations Club, Project Lighthouse, and hoping to play on the Club Golf team once COVID-19 decides that she can. She is very excited to explore the field of International Relations!
Esmond Martin | Director of Finance
Esmond is currently a sophomore in the School of Foreign Service, intending to major in International Politics with a concentration in International Security. Born and raised in the UK, he moved to the US for university. Esmond enjoys surfing, cricket and reading.
